Donna McDaniel Chesser, 82, died peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family on Friday, May 16, 2025, in Georgetown, Kentucky. Born to the late Dorothy Hostettler McDaniel and Orth McDaniel in New Albany, Indiana on January 15, 1943, she grew up one of five siblings. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg, Indiana and attended Louisville Tech College. Donna raised a family, endured the loss of child, but was strong, steadfast, and supportive of her family's need. Her career was focused on staffing, even after marrying and having children, that profession brought her family to central Kentucky. She was the owner of the new Robert Half & Associates in Lexington, Kentucky. Donna established a vast network of connections in Lexington, Georgetown, and surrounding communities. A kind spirit, clear-spoken, entertaining woman with a great sense of humor, Donna was a serious businesswoman who enjoyed her friends and family to the fullest. After many successful years she sold her business and was the Area Manager for BJM & Associates. Donna remarried Eddie Chesser, Jr. and they enjoyed 12 years before his sudden passing in 2001. Eddie was the Georgetown Chief of Police, so their circles of friends stretched across the entire community. After the staffing career, Donna dedicated her time locally as the Executive Director of the Scott County Habitat for Humanity. She retired from Habitat but remained supportive through the years, a continuously caring, giving soul. Donna dearly loved her dog Annie, and her latest loving "dog" she called Bat Cat. Donna was a member of Northside Christian in Georgetown.
Donna will be lovingly remembered by her children, Chris Carter of Georgetown, David (Becky) Lynch of New Albany, Indiana, and Lisa (Richard) Arnoldy of Bennington, Indiana; her grandchildren, Kay-Lee Carter, Courtney Carter, Jonathan Lynch, Nicholas Lynch, and Brittany Leigh Hobbs; her brother, Paul Hertweck; her sisters, Debbie Hertweck, and Patti Hertweck; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and her closest friends, Betty Jo Shar and Jeanne Beaven. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Richard Baker, and a daughter, Kathy Jo Hobbs.
Visitation for Donna will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Service will begin at 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 22, with Rev. Chester Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgetown Cemetery where serving Pallbearers will be Joey Tackett, Ricky True, Trey Grimm, Andre Givens, Jr., Jim Rider, and Danny Tongco. Honorary Pallbearers are PJ Hertweck and Harold "Doc" Simms.
