Johnston – Donna M. Cooke, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Steven A. Cooke for forty-three years. Born in Paramus, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Katherine (Hroncich) Gill.
Donna grew up in New Jersey and relocated to Florida where she graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale. She attended St. Leo University, Florida, and studied Mathematics. Donna worked as a flight attendant for the former Northwest Airlines prior to relocating back to Rhode Island in 1978. She retired in 2010 after working as a paralegal for over thirty years at a local law firm. She was a faithful communicant of the former St. Ann Church, Cranston, and was involved with Cranston's League for Cranston's Future. Donna's favorite pastime was watching her late son play baseball for Keene State University.
She is survived by a daughter, Amanda C. Tarantelli and her husband, Raymond, of Rumford; a son, Chad Sammarco and his wife, Barbara, of Florida; a granddaughter, Katherine G. Cooke of Coventry; a daughter-in-law, Meghan Cooke, also of Coventry; two nephews, Aaron Gill of Georgia and Brian Gill of North Carolina, and several dear friends. She was the mother of the late Bradley J. Cooke and sister of the late William Gill.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to RISPCA, 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI 02886 would be appreciated. Online condolences welcomed at www.trippfuneralhome.com.
