Donna Gayle Ensor

Donna Gayle (Hensley) Ensor, age 78, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, surrounded by love and family at Unicoi County Hospital after a long, valiant battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents: C.R. and Margaret Hensley, and brothers Dr. Robert (Bobby) Hensley, and Kenneth Hensley. Donna leaves behind her loving and dedicated husband, Robert C. (Bob) Ensor, and they would have been married 57 years on April 27. She also leaves behind sons Kenneth Ensor (Kristy), Aaron Ensor (Susie Rutledge), grandson, Zachary Keaton Ensor, and granddaughter, Maggie Paige Ensor.Also left to cherish her memory are precious friends and family members Niki Ensor, Micah Davis, Aleesha McCurry, and Bella Gardner as well as special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Donna lived with unwavering faith in God and chose to live one day at a time as she inspired others watching her courageously fight cancer. She was a former Red Cross Volunteer, had the biggest heart for animals, and lovingly cared for numerous pets over the years. Donna also enjoyed collecting trinkets like butterflies, as they signified hope in her life. The family wants to thank Donna's oncology team in Johnson City, the doctors, nurses, and staff at Unicoi County Hospital, Christian Care Center in Erwin, Amedisys Hospice, and Ballad Health Hospice. Per her request, Donna chose to have a private graveside memorial with immediate family only.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to animal charities of your choice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
