FRITTS, Donna – of Davison, age 89, passed away on March 11, 2024 at Charter Senior Living in Davison after a long illness with dementia. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Friday, March 15, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. Interment will take place following the service in Davison Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until the time of service on Friday at Allen Funeral Home.
Donna was born in Davison Michigan on October 18, 1934 the daughter of the late Thelma and David Boismier. Donna, a 1952 graduate from Davison High School, married her high school sweetheart John Howard Fritts on June 20, 1953. They have been married 70 ½ years. Donna attended the First Baptist Church in Davison and was a member of the choir.
Donna was an avid seamstress and owned and operated Davison Fabrics in downtown Davison from 1976 – 1995. Customers from all over Michigan came to the shop due to the large fabric selection and classes provided.
Donna and John lived in Davison until 1995 retiring up north outside of Traverse City on Lake Skegemog and wintering Yuma, Arizona. Donna expressed her artistic abilities using paint and chalk mediums and have numerous paintings throughout their home. She enjoyed giving some of her paintings to friends. Donna attended Alden Methodist Church in Alden Michigan and sang in the choir.
Donna was preceded in death by daughter, Patti Lynne Engel and parents David and Thelma Boismier. She is survived by husband, John; daughter, Natalie (Dave) Monahan; son, John (Susan) Fritts; 4 grandchildren,1 great-grandchild with 2 more on the way; siblings, Jerry (Marjorie) Boismier, Nita Carlson, Dave (Donna) Boismier, several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a big thank you to Charter Senior Living for the wonderful care they provided for Donna in the short time she was a resident. They would also like to thank Amy McKown from DediCare Solutions for the in-home care she provided to Donna for several months.
