Donna Fay Geer passed away March 7, 2024, age 88, of natural causes. She was the daughter of Byron and Hazel Kotter, and was born on the family farm near Rushville, Illinois on August 9, 1935. She was a graduate of Rushville High School, 1953, and California State University, Fullerton, graduating with a BS and a Master Degree. She married Larry Alan Geer in 1956, and they have three children Michael (Park City, Utah), Kevin (Lucille, Idaho), and Brian (Dammeron Valley, Utah).

The family grew in Upland, California and enjoyed boating on the Colorado river and rock hounding in the Mojave desert. Donna was a lifelong educator and enjoyed seeing her students drive in many different fields. She taught at several schools, and retired from Chino high school in 2000 after 24 years, her last position as vice principal. At Chino, she taught Art, Foods, Clothing, Child development, and Interior Design. She had hobbies in all those topics, including china painting, oil painting, knitting and quilting. She was a popular teacher and was warmly greeted by past students living in Upland and Chino area. She served on the Cal state Fullerton scholarship award committee for many years. She was known for her cheerful demeanor.

Donna enjoyed visiting relatives in Rushville and hosted her grandchildren to many farm visits.

Donna was in avid walker and exploits including hiking many southern California mountain peaks, and a backpack to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

In retirement, Larry and Donna moved to Dammeron Valley, Utah in 2005 and lived in a house, built by their son, Brian, a general contractor. They enjoyed having horses and a large garden.

No memorial will be held at Donna’s request. The family will have a private committal of ashes. Friends and family may leave stories and condolences on this website.
