Donna Marie (Gavinski) Gottung, 62, of Wittenberg, WI passed in peace at home on hospice care on Dec 30th 2022, following a long battle with an infected hip replacement. Born Sept 5th 1960 to Lucille (Hintz) and Joseph Gavinski. Donna married Bernard Gottung in 1989, conceiving two sons, Quentin in 1979 and Brandon in 1984. Donna went on to get the first college degree in the family at Viterbo University in 1988 in La Crosse, WI graduating to become a registered nurse. Committed to raising her children with a better life than she had, she escaped her unharmonious marriage, moving to Wausau, WI with the kids. After a hip replacement in 2016, she began to suffer from extreme pain in that hip, not getting a diagnosis until 2020, when she was informed that her hip and femur were seriously infected. After battling this infection with all her strength for over two years, seeing no signs of healing, she opted to not amputate and committed herself to passing at home in hospice care of her sister Shirley and son Brandon.
She leaves behind her son Quentin Gottung (Erica Thorpe), grandson Orion Gottung and Brandon Gottung (Jessie Lowry). Her infectious laughter will be missed by her sisters Cindy Wilke, Shirley Gavinski, Julie Mondroski and Tami Jo Gavinski; she is preceded in death by sister Deborah (Gavinski) Keranen. She is survived by her dearest aunt Patrinella Stroik. Her numerous nieces and nephews will miss her love and support during times of need. She will be missed by her former partners, Kara Kent and Troy Piotrowski.
A celebration of her life will be held at Donna's home on April 1st 2023.
