Rose A. Gottung, 65, of Wausau, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Born on August 10, 1959, in Wausau, Rose was the daughter of the late Jerome and Violet (Petrowski) Gottung. She spent her life dedicated to her community, serving for many years as an Administrative Specialist for the City of Wausau.
Rose had a deep love for dogs, especially beagles, and was an active participant at the Paper Cities Kennel Club. There, she practiced scent work, obedience, and fastcat, and became a beloved pillar of their community. To her family, Rose was known as "Annie"-a devoted sister and aunt who was always there with love, support, and a heart of gold.
She is survived by her siblings, Bob (JoAnn) Gottung and Sharon (Little Jo) Hernandez; her nieces, Ashley Pribnow, Autumn Gottung, April (Cole) Zelenka, Elida (Kevin) Berndt, Angela Hernandez, and Sam (Jeremy) Vandergeest; seven great-nieces and five great-nephews; and her faithful four-legged companion, Sonny. They will all miss her deeply, remembering her for her kindness, love, and laughter.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her brother, Bernie.
Rose will always be remembered as a special flower in the garden of life-one whose beauty, light, and love will never be forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau.
