Donna Virginia Hess passed away on Jan. 30, 2026, in Springfield, Mo., leaving behind a legacy of warmth, devotion and quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
Born on Nov. 19, 1933, in Pocahontas, Ark., Donna was the daughter of William Troy Halcom and Lee Ora Rexroad Halcom. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bob Halcom; and her sisters, Coralee Riley and Betty Horsman. She leaves behind beloved sisters-in-law along with many nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.
Donna married the love of her life, Joe Lewis Hess, and together they shared 54 years of marriage marked by loyalty, partnership and genuine affection. For decades, Donna was a successful insurance agent with Bankers Life and Casualty Company, working side by side with Joe until their retirement. Even after retiring, her desire to help others continued as she volunteered for many years at the hospital in Searcy.
Family was at the center of Donna's heart. She loved each one dearly and took great pride in their accomplishments and joys. Her sweet, pleasant personality made her a joy to be around, people naturally gravitated to her kindness. She had a remarkable gift for staying connected, keeping in touch with friends and relatives across the miles, nurturing relationships that lasted a lifetime.
Donna enjoyed exercising with her Silver Sneakers friends, sharing lunches and laughter with many dear companions and spending time shopping, antiquing and decorating. Her home reflected her eye for beauty and her meticulous care, she was known for being an immaculate housekeeper who created a warm, welcoming space for all who visited.
Donna will be deeply missed by her family and by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her gentle spirit, steady love and enduring friendships leave a lasting imprint on many hearts.
A graveside gathering celebration of Donna's life will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Monday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. Arrangements by Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. www.searcymceuenfuneral home.com.
