Donna Parmentier Howes, age 98, of Salisbury, MD, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Born in Donora, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Robb and Marceau Parmentier and stepfather Fred Stockdale.
In 1946 she married John "Jack" Thomas Howes in Mt. Lebanon, PA.
Donna attended Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, PA and was employed at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed reading, knitting, ice cream and being with family. She was a lifelong student of American history and culture and with her husband visited 48 U.S. states.
She is survived by a son, John Keith Howes and daughter-in-law Janice Howes of Woodbridge, VA; two daughters, Rebecca H. Allen and son-in-law Robert Allen of Salisbury and Susan H. Conrad and son-in-law John Conrad of Lagrangeville, NY; grandchildren Erick Tompkins and wife Jennifer of Kearneysville, WV, Joseph Tompkins and wife Stacey of Woodbridge, VA, Marc Howes and wife Katie of Manassas, VA, Nicholas Allen and wife Marisa of Arlington, VA and Jordan Allen and husband Justin Hemmel of Salisbury, MD; great-grandchildren Alissa, Eli, Sara, Abbi, Grayson, Price, Nathan, Alex, Zach, Lucas and Olivia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and two brothers, Edgar Parmentier and James Stockdale.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
