Donna Leigh Johnson, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, in Savannah. Born on August 11, 1955, in Savannah, Donna was a beacon of compassion and service throughout her life.
Donna began her high school education at Jenkins High School before graduating from Beach High School. She furthered her education by obtaining a degree in Criminal Justice from Armstrong State College. Her professional journey included serving as a Deputy Sheriff with Chatham County. Simultaneously, Donna volunteered her time and musical talents at local Savannah nursing homes, where she shared both melodies and spiritual guidance. Her love for music was not only a means of entertainment but a way to touch hearts and uplift spirits. This passion ultimately led her to a role as Activities Director at Westview Nursing Home, where her compassionate nature shone brightly.
A lifelong member of the Ardsley Park Baptist Church, Donna's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed hiking, sharing the gospel, and playing music with local bands. Her skill with the guitar and piano brought joy to many and reflected her vibrant spirit.
Donna is survived by her beloved mother, Myrtle Lee Johnson, her caring brother Edwin Kirk Johnson and his wife Ann Rebecca McCormac Johnson, along with many cherished cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Donald Johnson.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Donna's life and legacy during visitation hours on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, Savannah, Georgia. Reflections from friends and family will follow at 6:00 pm. Interment will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11:00 am; no graveside service will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Donna's memory to support diabetes research.
