Donna Jean Krontz

March 10, 1942 – July 23, 2025

Donna Jean Krontz, age 83, of Sturgis, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.

Born on March 10, 1942, in White Pigeon, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lucile (Berry) Walters. Donna was a lifelong resident of the Sturgis area and a proud graduate of Brighton High School in Brighton, Indiana, Class of 1959.

On September 10, 1961, she married the love of her life, Frank J. Krontz, Jr., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sturgis. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and hard work.

Donna dedicated several years to education, working as a teacher's assistant and library assistant at Sturgis Public Schools. Alongside Frank, she also co-owned and operated Fradon Pizza in Coldwater and later, Lewis & Lambright Real Estate in Sturgis, where she worked as a licensed real estate agent for more than 20 years until their retirement.

She was the longest continuous member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sturgis and a member of the St. Joseph County Realtors Association. Donna loved cooking, crafting, and cross-stitching, and she delighted in finding new recipes. Above all, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 64 years, Frank; her three sons: Steven (Janice) Krontz of Wilmington, NC; Todd (Kimberlin) Krontz of Sturgis; and Michael (Michele) Krontz of Azle, TX; grandchildren: Dustin Krontz, Christian (Jillian) Krontz, and Alexandra (Wyatt) Richards; great-grandchildren: Asher and Joelle; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lillian Swihart; and her brother, Clarence Walters.

The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 PM on Friday, July 25th at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. A funeral service celebrating Donna's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 26th at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1108 E. Lafayette St., Sturgis, with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 8075 Creekside Drive, Portage, MI 49024, or to St. John's Lutheran Church, 1108 E. Lafayette St., Sturgis, MI 49091.
