Donna M. Janda Lorenzini was the sole daughter of Alice (Privoznik) Janda and Joseph Janda Sr. Donna is preceded in death by her husband Ronald N. Lorenzini, M.D. She also had a brother Joseph Lewis Janda, Jr., a decorated Army Veteran, having served in Korea earning the Bronze Star. Donna was raised in Riverside, Illinois in the home built by her father. Donna graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School in Riverside and Trinity High School in River Forest. Donna was then accepted to Holy Cross Central School of Nursing in South Bend, Indiana where she earned her R.N. degree. Furthering her career, Donna was accepted to St. Mary's College in South Bend where she graduated with her B.S. in nursing and became the College nurse. Donna attended the University of Notre Dame football games as a nurse accompanying the Team's physician. After one of the games, Donna met her future husband, Ron. Love blossomed. During the next few years Donna became engaged and was married on August 9, 1958 at St. Mary's church in Riverside. Ron finished medical school and a residency, but not before their first son, Ron, Jr. was born. Two years later Donna gave birth to twin daughters, Nancy and Susan. Because of the escalation of the Viet Nam war, Ron Sr. entered the US Army, and was assigned to Northern Italy where the family lived for three years. It was here that Thomas J. Lorenzini was born. The children attended the Italian Montessori School and the US Army Grammar School. Lifelong friends were made while residing in Italy. Returning from the military service, the family moved to Riverside, Illinois before settling in Hinsdale. Donna had a quiet strength about her which was respected and admired by all her family, and which provided the foundation for the family's mantra, "Sempre La Famiglia". Donna is survived by her son Ronald (Colleen) Lorenzini, Jr., Nancy (Keith Kopec) Lorenzini, M.D., Susan (Lawrence deceased, Bill Gross) Dougherty and Thomas (Honore) Lorenzini. There are thirteen (13) grandchildren: Emily (Jake) Raeker, D.D.S., Gabrielle (Daniel) Cook, Brian (Pooja) Kopec, Thomas Dougherty, Captain Caroline Lorenzini, John Kopec, Thomas J. Lorenzini, Jr., Ronald N. Lorenzini, III, Michael Lorenzini, Henry Lorenzini, Isabella Lorenzini, Anabella Dougherty, and Francesca Lorenzini; and three (3) great grandchildren.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Donna's passing. I became friends with Donna and Ron at the 7:30 St. Isaac Jogues Sunday mass. Donna was a very kind and gentle person. We shared a love of quilting and I enjoyed chatting with her about her current projects. I will miss seeing her, she is in my prayers.
