Donna Lee Mattox, a cherished soul and beloved member of her community, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 27, 1949, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Donna was a beacon of joy, kindness, and unwavering faith

A graduate of Silver Creek High School, she dedicated her life to her family, making every holiday unforgettable and hosting countless family dinners filled with laughter and warmth. Her passion for baking and her love for gathering her family together were hallmarks of her nurturing spirit. Donna took immense joy in attending her grandchildren's sporting events, proudly cheering them on as they pursued their passions.

Her unshakable faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of Southeast Christian Church of Indiana, Donna shared her faith with compassion and a joyful spirit, always ready with a big smile. Her contributions to the community were notable; Donna and Richard played an instrumental role in founding the Parkinson's Support Group of Southern Indiana, demonstrating her commitment to helping others. In recognition of her extraordinary caregiving, she was honored with the Caregiver of the Year Award, a testament to her loving nature.

Donna had a zest for life that extended beyond her family. She found peace and joy in working in her yard and being a good neighbor. Whether it was her love for the fall season, Christmas gatherings, or engaging in her hobbies of watching sports, exercising, and completing jigsaw puzzles, Donna embraced every moment with enthusiasm.  Donna would always be ready to welcome you with a cup of hot cider or coffee and great conversation.

While Donna is survived by her daughters, Kristin and JT Cox, Kerri and Eric Vaughn, and Kimra Colone and Tim, as well as her beloved sisters, Gloria Rauck, Carolyn Kaufer, and Linda Whitlatch, and her dear cousin and partner in crime, Rhea Jackson, the space she leaves behind is immense. She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren, Mattox Colone and Issy Colone, Maci Vaughn and Ethan Vaughn, Tyson Cox, Jalynn Cox, and Deacon Cox.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Richard Mattox; her parents, Bud and Ann Longest; and her brother, Marland Longest. Each of these losses deepened her capacity for love and gratitude in life, shaping her into the remarkable person so many adored.

The family respectfully request that expressions of love and sympathy take the form of donations to the Richard and Donna Mattox Scholarship fund; 8520 Brodie Court, Charlestown, IN 47111

As we remember Donna Lee Mattox, let us honor her legacy by embracing her spirit of kindness, faith, and joy that touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
