Donna McGrogan

Donna McGrogan, 68, a lifelong Hyde Park resident, died peacefully on August 6, 2024, at the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born October 19, 1955, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Donald and Betty Hetsler Van Norstrand. She was predeceased by her father and her mother survives in Hyde Park.
Born and raised in Hyde Park, Donna was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School.
Donna was named Deputy Hyde Park Town Clerk in 2003 and became the Hyde Park Town Clerk in 2010. She just retired in February 2024. She was always proud of the fact that she was registered with the State of NY as a Registrar of Vital Statistics. Prior to working for the town, she worked in banking at the former Bankers Trust branch in Hyde Park.
Ms. McGrogan enjoyed drawing, painting, and making crafts. She also owned her own business selling her handmade americana crafts called "I made it Myself".
On December 31, 2011, in Hyde Park, she married Thomas L. Contursi. Her husband survives at home.
Family was important to Donna. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter, Beth Kelsey (John), of Hyde Park; and son, Van F. McGrogan (Stephanie), of Newburgh.
Her grandchildren, Eliza, Graham, and Mylo, meant the world to her.
She is also survived by her two brothers, Allan Van Norstrand (Sherry) of Hyde Park, and Drew Van Norstrand (Barbara) of Wappingers Falls; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Helen and Leonard Hetsler. (whom she was particularly close with)
The family will always be grateful to Donna's best friend, Debbie Veith, for traveling to NY to be with her in her final days.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be from 4 to 8 PM, Friday, August 9th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Daniel D'Alliessi at 11 AM, Saturday, August 10th at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.
