CASTORLAND- Donna Pate, 90, of the Third Road, passed away at Samaritan Medical Center on September 25, 2024.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 10AM – 12PM at Iseneker Funeral Home, 5702 Waters Road, Lowville. A funeral service will be said at 12 PM following calling hours at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Annex Cemetery in Beaver Falls. A luncheon at Croghan American Legion will immediately follow the burial, all are welcome. Any food donations may be taken directly to the Croghan American Legion on Thursday starting at 10:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to Riverside Cemetery Annex, P.O. Box 222, Croghan, NY 13327.
Donna is survived by five children, Wendy Bliss of Manlius; Rick Pate of Castorland; Karen and Joseph Hoch of Casorland; Kathy Pate and her companion Nancy Keegan of Dexter; and James and Laure Pate of Sharpsburg, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald in 2011; a daughter, Kay M. Pate in 1959 shortly after birth; two sons, Allan Pate in 2002, Randy in 2022; and one grandson, Jared Lehman in 2022.
Donna was born on December 9, 1933, a daughter of the late George and Alice Walseman L'Huillier. She attended country school on the Third Road and graduated from Beaver Falls High School. After her schooling, she worked for Dadville Tree Nursery. On November 7, 1955 she married Gerald Pate in Baltimore Maryland, a loving union lasting nearly 56 years. Donna worked at H and L Motors in Croghan for a time before she began working for Croghan National Bank. Donna worked her way up from a teller to retire from Key Bank as the assistant manager. She had worked in both Key Bank in Croghan and Lyons Falls over the years.
Donna loved to visit with family and friends and share her knowledge, and enjoyed music, square dances, playing dominoes and cards, scratch off lottery tickets, playing on her computer. She also loved driving, gardening, canning, cooking, baking, and was well known for her delicious potato donuts.
She was a member of the Beaver River Memorial Post 1663, Croghan American Legion Auxiliary, Black River Valley Fiddlers, and Beaver River Senior Citizens. Donna also bowled in the Croghan Bowling League.
