Donna Peed Gill, 91, passed away on October 27, 2025, at Legends Assisted Living in Washington, Indiana.

She was born on July 23, 1934, in Washington, Indiana, to the late Gerald & Thelma (Thornell) Aishe.

Donna was a 1952 graduate of WHS. She was a drummer in the band, and homecoming queen. She graduated from Vincennes University, Oakland City University, and attained her master’s degree from Indiana University in 1969. GO IU!!

She spent her professional career in education in Washington. She taught at Longfellow, Jefferson, and North Elementary, ending her career in 2nd grade. Her goal was to do everything possible to make her students learn and to make certain that each child left her classroom feeling good about themselves. She loved each and every student, and wanted to make a difference in their lives.

In retirement, Donna enjoyed playing cards, traveling, going to the YMCA, and doing yoga. She also volunteered at the Red Cross for several years.

Family meant everything to Donna. Her grandma, Bessie Keller, who helped raise her, was instrumental in shaping her caring, thoughtful, and fun personality.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Cindy (JC) Noll, granddaughters, Alyson Dougherty, and Danica Dowling; her sister, Darlene (Dan) Walters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gerald & Thelma, she is preceded in passing by her beloved husbands, Don G. Peed & Thurman Gill; her infant son; and her sister, Dixie White.

Visitation for Donna will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 2:30-5:30pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. A celebration of life will begin at 5:30pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to one of the following: Daviess County YMCA, or the Friends for Kids of Daviess County. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

The family would also like to offer a special thanks to Mark & Marion Gill for all of their visits and the love that they showed Donna (mom); to her many friends for all of the visits, cards, and love; to Legends Assisted Living & all of their staff, you became her family with the care and love you provided her with; to Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and professionalism; and Judi Meade and Sue Jones, who started as caregivers many years ago and became family.

Donna will be remembered as a kind and loving person who had a spirit of forgiveness and gratitude for all blessings, and of course, her sense of humor.

Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Donna and her family.
