Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Concord on Aug. 26, 2022.
With sorrow and gratitude in our hearts, we announce the passing of Donna Marie (Robbins) Shippey, 80, longtime resident of Concord, MA, on August 23, 2022. Sorrow because we will miss her, but also gratitude that she is at long last pain-free and at peace, and for the time we had with her. Most importantly, we know that she is overjoyed to be reunited with her very best friend, and the love of her life, Bill Shippey, as well as her parents and brother, whom she cherished deeply.
The world became brighter on the day Donna was born in Detroit, MI to Marie and Clyde Robbins. She was the third of four children and her family was extremely important to her. She had some trailblazing and unique accomplishments, such as being the first female salesperson at Campbell s Soup Company, but, more importantly, dedicated much of her time to improving the lives of others. A passionate volunteer, Donna served as the President of the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary Board, joined the Welcome Wagon in every town she moved to, worked for the Concord Museum and Boston MFA, raised funds/granted wishes for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, etc.
Donna always welcomed friends and family who needed a home away from home. Above all, she would undoubtably say her most important and rewarding roles were being Bill s wife and the mom of her two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle. After her husband Bill died in 1992, she and her daughters the Shippey girls became a fierce trio.
Donna was a dear friend to all who knew her, had a grand personality, and will for sure be missed. She was always the life of the party, a true firecracker, and hosted many memorable events, generating warm (and funny) memories that will be held in hearts, young and old, for years to come.
Donna is preceded in death by her father, Clyde, her mother, Marie, her big brother, Eugene, and her husband, William (Bill). She is survived by her big sister, Shirley, her baby brother, Kenny, her daughters, Jennifer and Michelle, her sons-in-law, Chris and Winston (Tres), her grandchildren, Winston, William, Wesley and Walker, her adored nieces and nephews, and her loyal companion, LTC Thomas Vantre, USA (Ret).
To honor the legend that she was, and as is most fitting for Donna, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Concord area. Details will be announced here soon and we invite anyone who knew her to attend and toast a beautiful woman who touched so many lives. A private burial service will be held at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
We are so very grateful that she was able to spend her final days in comfort, surrounded by family, at the
Care Dimensions Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation in her honor to the
Care Dimensions Family Fund, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923, so that others may experience the love and care that our family did as well.
Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
