I would like to take this time out to personally thank all of the people who aided our family during our time of extreme duress. Many of you were so instrumental in the roles that you played in helping my sister's home going to be as smooth and stress-free as possible for our family, as we were not on our "A" game, to say the least, during that period.
I truly want to extend my thanks to everyone from the Coast Guard Admirals and Executive staff, to the Korea crew, and the New York family, and everyone in between who shared a prayer, sent a card, or labored to make our lives just a little bit easier during that time.
I will ALWAYS love and miss my sister, Donna Fatima Walker-Ross!!! To me she was just "Rossi", and it fit, cause it rhymes with BOSSY. She was the eldest, and I the youngest; and she ALWAYS let me know, sometimes not so subtly, that she had 'seniority'. (lolz)
Donna truly loved her family! She might have drug us thru the mud a couple of times, but she NEVER threw us under the bus and for that I commend her because in the times we live in...you rarely find that kind of LOYALTY, even in blood relatives!
I miss our talks and our laughs, our outings and the wisdom that she shared, I especially miss our political conversations. Oh we would get down, because I had no problem reminding her that I did not work for "Coast Guard Diversity", or any other governmental agency so we could go all in, and she would share her concerns, complaints and what she wanted to accomplish.
I just wish she could have hung in here a little longer to see our newest edition to the family (God Willing) due early next year. The God I serve would not take such an Angel, without giving one back to ease our pain.
For all of you who left a notice where you could be contacted up here, I am leaving my e-mail address as contact for you. Please feel free to reach out to me because, like I stated earlier, I didn't work with her, but I love to hear some of her stories at work because I truly know who she was, and what she was capable of.
***The Donna Walker-Ross Diversity and Inclusion Master Game-Changer Award***
Besides...how am I supposed to know when this award is being presented???
Thanks again and may you all continue to be Blessed!

I am grateful to have shared the light brought by Donna to all who knew her, or even who met her. My connection was through the Society of American Indian Government Employees (SAIGE). Donna was a steadfast supporter of diversity, including indigenous peoples in that mix, always with joy and graciousness. That's what comes to mind when I think of Donna--her graciousness. I am honored that she is, always, a part of my life.
Yours in peace

I am at a loss for words at the passing of my friend Donna. We shared many good talks and laughs during our days as co-workers at the Office of Diversity in Coast Guard Headquarters. Donna was the Workforce Policy advisor and I the Ethnic Policy advisor. Whenever I needed counsel on a subject, she was always there with just the right advice. I will cherish my memories of her.

Sending my condolences to Donna's family and friends during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Donna on several occasions during her time here at the Coast Guard. Any day she called my office or sent me an email was a brighter day! Yes, it was always related to some type of work which needed to be done... However, Donna was the type of person you ENJOYED working with. Her positive attitude was infectious, and I couldn't help smiling while interacting with her. She will be greatly missed by her Coast Guard family.

My sincere condolences to the family of Ms. Donna Walker-Ross. I can truly say God has called one of His Angels home. Things remembered about Donna: She always lit up a room with her smile, always had a positive attitude, always found a way to say, "yes", her passion for ensuring others were recognized for all the good they did, and of course her infectious laugh. I will never forget how she took care of me as a young Junior Officer who had no idea what he was doing. She took me under her wing, mentored me and unselfishly shared her success with me. MS. Donna Walker-Ross, you will be sorely missed and you will always be loved.

Be at peace now Donna. Thank you for helping me through my loss. You were the one who understood what was really happening and allowed me to grieve. Even though we worked together, we really only met when we ran into each other at the chemo cafe...we became sisters in arms during a battle that hopefully only few share. I will miss you.

A memorial tribute to a magnificent woman!!
I am so heartbroken and saddened to hear that my dearest and most wonderful friend Donna Walker Ross who worked at the Headquarters, U.S. Coast Guard died on Dec. 29, 2015. We worked together in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for 4 years. In fact, she planned and executed my retirement ceremony from the Coast Guard in 2013. Donna served as the Workforce Policy Advisor to the Commandant for Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and was the driving force for all global outreach activities.
Just 3 weeks ago, Donna sent me 3 Christmas decorative lamps as a gift which I will always cherish. We always exchanged birthday and Christmas gifts. I never knew she was suffering with cancer.
Donna was a beautiful woman, inside and out, who was dedicated to her job and especially loved working for the Coast Guard. Everyone loved Donna and she was the "go to" person if you needed to get anything done!
As stated in Philippians 1:3 Thanksgiving and Prayer
"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you"
We love you Donna and know that God is welcoming you to His Paradise in heaven! You're God's special angel! We will miss you so much!
Love,
