Donte Gonzalez Obituary
Donté, born on August 4, 1997, in Zephyrhills, FL, to Amelia Gonzalez, was the most adored Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, Friend, and Love. Donté was a person of deep curiosity. Intense, intrinsic drive to learn, explore and understand the world and others. Donté was an aspiring student studying physics at The Ohio State University. He pushed beyond surface level facts to seek deeper meaning and challenge assumptions. He was highly inquisitive and unafraid of anything, which allowed him to foster the most genuine relationships with everyone he met and touch the sky of his personal growth. Donté was a lifelong stargazer, avid and passionate skateboarder, movie connoisseur and jack of all trades.
In addition to his mother Amelia, Donté is survived by his stepfather, Johnny Chavez, his siblings, David Gonzalez, Destiny Gonzalez, and Damien Durr, his niece, Mia Cunningham, his nephew, Chozen Durr, his aunts, Angie (Ben) Amstutz, Gloria Gonzalez, and Alicia Gonzalez-Murphy, his uncles, Moses Gonzalez, Nicholas Bell, and Nathaniel Bell, his other half, Kasidy Moneer, his dear friends, John Rinehart and Chase Barnett, his loving role-models, Matt and Robin Rinehart, and his cousins, Hannah (Rafael Bedolla) Gonzalez, Emma Amstutz, Mya Amstutz, Ava Amstutz, Lola Gonzalez, Ivie Gonzalez, Savanna Beverly, Sophia Gonzalez, Antoine Hampton, and Isabella Gonzalez.
Donté was preceded in death by his grandparents, Moses and Nettie (Molina) Gonzalez, and his cousin, Enrique Gonzalez.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home - Eastside Chapel. A time of reflection and sharing will begin at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

This makes me sad. Donte pet sit for us a few years ago and I was pleased with his care. He was such a gentleman and exhibited such a great spirit. He was a hard worker. I would text him updated photos of my dogs and he would tell me about his. He had such a promising career ahead. I don´t know what his beliefs were, but I pray Jesus snatched him up and he is whole again in Heaven. Prayers for all his family and friends.

i moved from georgia to ohio for school. i didn´t know anyone and had 0 friends. i decided to go to the skatepark and start skating again and on the first day i went i met donte. he was super nice to me, and asked me about where i was from, etc. He even let me borrow his tripod to film myself. i wasn´t the closest with him but he had an impact on my life, he was sort of like a staple of the skatepark. almost every time i went he would be there
