Graveside Services for Dora "Poochie" Bartholomew, 91, of Carlisle who passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at home in Carlisle, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025 in the Avon Cemetery Rural Des Moines.
Dora Mae (Tilton) Bartholomew was born to Charles and Gladys (Ballard) Tilton on January 7, 1934. She is a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1952. On September 11, 1953 she married to the love of her life Don Bartholomew. On December 7, 1960 she and Don were blessed with their daughter, Julie.
Better known as "Poochie" by family and friends - a nickname given to her at a very early age, by her father. Poochie was employed by Northwestern Bell until the birth of her daughter.
Lover of animals and especially her Yorkies and horses. Pooch enjoyed lunches with long-time friends. She had the unique honor of being the first Homecoming Queen at Carlisle High School and then was chosen the following year to be the Homecoming Queen again. She was the only two-time royalty at Carlisle.
She grew up in the Avon Lake area and lived there a number of years until moving to Carlisle.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Don; parents, Charlie and Gladys; sister, Doris (Harold) Kail; nephew Chuck; in-laws Lorraine (Bob) Love and Phyllis (Ted) Randleman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle Fire and Rescue in her memory.
