Dora Ethel Hooker (Durham), 94, of Copper Creek, peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, September 13th surrounded by her many loved ones. She was born to the late Aster and Mary (Barnett) Durham on June 22, 1931 in Orlando, Kentucky. She was the wife of the late Woodson Hooker, whom she married in 1952.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dora was preceded in death by her daughters Sandra Harris and Judy Reeves, brothers Amos, Roy, Bennie, & Glen Durham and a sister, Eva Durham.
Mamaw was the steadfast heart of her family, and her home was a place where everyone felt loved and welcomed. She cherished the company of her loved ones, leaving behind happy memories of breaking beans on the porch, mornings filled with the scent of biscuits and gravy, and the soft rhythm of her rocking chair lulling generations to sleep. With gifted hands, she stitched quilts and sewed treasures that captured her love in every thread. Her legacy is one of quiet strength, boundless compassion, and enduring love that continues to live on in every life she touched.
Those left to celebrate her life are her sons, Timothy (Christine) Hooker & Tom Hooker, her daughter, Janie (Bob) Dehullu, her brother, Roger (Carolyn) Durham, her sister Sue Wray, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Pallbearers include Scott Everett, Kalem Grasham, Scott Lane, Jake Grasham, Tucker Pike, and Dakota Ratliff. Honorary Pallbearers include Andy Reeves, Josh Harris, Matthew Caddell, and Brandon Shuey.
Services for Dora will be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at McKnight Funeral Home, beginning with the visitation at 11:00 am, until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Durham Family Cemetery.
