Dora Roberts Obituary
She was born July 31, 1937 in Alma to the late Ben Bennett and Maude Carter Bennett. Mrs. Roberts graduated from Bacon County High School in 1955, but she lived most of her life in Waycross. She was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church, and she also kept the nursery at Trinity Methodist Church for many years. Mrs. Roberts retired from Gibson and Associates Law Firm after 30 years of dedicated and loyal service. She was also formerly employed by A.P. Hurst Insurance. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching any and all sports; however her favorite games to attend were those of her grandchildren. Her true joy in life was being known as "grandmother", and a wonderful, caring, selfless grandmother she was.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frankie Lee.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Davis (Kurt) of Hazlehurst, and Anna Smith of Waycross; grandchildren, Elese Howell, Wes Dowling, Katie Cowley (Bret), Kaylee Musselwhite (Tyler), and Ivy Fender (Will); great grandchildren, Nathan Koch, Drew Dowling, Lila Grace, Liza Kate Musselwhite, Chapel Fender, Lanie Reese Musselwhite, Everly Howell, and Lilly Cowley; fiance, Harold Linton; sisters, Jean Christopher (John) of Daytona Beach, FL, Bennie Nell Coley Alma, Frances Barnes (Larry) of Alma, and Evelyn Taylor of Alma; brother, Benjamin Bennett, Jr. (Ruth Anne) of Trenton, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday (August 14, 2023) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Damascus Cemetery in Mershon. The family will receive friends Monday beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
