Dora Sun

Dora Sun, age 89, born June 23, 1935 in Shanghai, China, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, June 5, 2025 at her son's home in Duluth, Georgia. Dora will be most remembered as a devoted wife (to George Sun who passed in 2020) and mother (to Patrick Sun).
Dora is survived by her younger sister Rosa Burchell, brother-in-law Troy Burchell, her nieces Adrianne Steiss (and her children Troy Steiss and Ty Steiss) and Kimberly Bower (and her husband Shannon Bower and son Max Bower), and her ood friends Joyce and Stephen Ho. She was preceded in death by her younger brother Jimmy Wen, and her mother Ming Jye Ren and father Wen Tse Chen.
After completing college at Taiwan University with a BA in English Literature, she would meet her husband George, get married in California, bore her only son Patrick in the decade of the 1960s, and become a stay-at-home mother in Mobile, Alabama, until 1980 where she would become a medical transcriber in the Pathology department at the University of South Alabama Medical Center and work with her long-time good friend Mary McKeough (who passed away in April 2025), until she retired circa 2000. Dora would remain in Mobile, Alabama, throughout her retirement years.
