Doris Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by House-Rawlings Funeral Home - London on Mar. 10, 2026.
Doris I. Baker, age 88, of Owenton, Kentucky and formerly of London, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

She leaves behind three children, Carolyn Sue Taylor & husband Steve of Sanders, KY, Charlene Curry & husband Earl of Ludlow, KY, Alvin Baker of Erlanger, KY; one sibling, Dema House & husband G.M. of London, KY; nine grandchildren, Ronny Baker, Joshua Curry, Charity (Joey) Schweitzer, Kimberly Havens, Matthew Taylor, Kyle Baker, Racheal (Devon) Lightfoot, Abigail Baker, Alex Baker; sixteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond G. Harris & Nola Collier Harris; her son, Charles A. Baker; and by four siblings, Baby Gene Harris, Cleo Osborne, Lois Wilson, Stanley Harris.

Doris was a woman whose life was defined by faith, generosity, and unwavering compassion for others. For many years, she faithfully worked in the clothing and food pantry at her church, quietly serving those in need and offering kindness to everyone who came through the door. She was a devoted member of Long Ridge Baptist Church. Helping others was not just something she did-it was who she was.

Doris gave freely of her time, her resources, and her heart. She supported many charities and organizations and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. She gave far more than she ever took. Though small in stature, she had the biggest heart and the strongest will. Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, strength, and compassion.

She loved animals, enjoyed reading books, and had a sweet tooth-especially for cheesecake. Doris was known for her understanding nature and her willingness to give others as many chances as it took. She believed in people and in the power of grace.

To know Doris was to know love. She truly was love personified. Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and those who loved her feel deeply grateful to have shared in her life for so many years. She will be missed terribly but remembered always for the warmth, kindness, and generosity she shared with the world.

A funeral service honoring Doris I. Baker will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Earl Curry officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Cemetery in Manchester, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the service hour, also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
