Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home & CrematoryDORIS ANNE DAUGHENBAUGH, 93, beloved widow of Richard S. Daughenbaugh, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, in the comfort of her home.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Doris was a daughter of the late Ivor and Violet Briscoe Peters, Sr. Doris graduated from Mckinley High School. She made her home in Aiken since 1972 and was a devoted member of Christ Way Christian Church. Doris married Richard (Dick) Daughenbaugh on September 16,1951 and was married for 63 years before his passing in 2015. She was a dedicated caregiver for Dick after he had a debilitating stroke. They travelled extensively in an RV which she learned to drive and made several cross-country trips and visited every state park in South Carolina. Doris loved baking and made the most delicious cakes, pies, and Christmas cut-out cookies. She especially liked making her wonderful buttermilk pancakes for family and friends alike. Doris never met a stranger; she loved people and the Lord. She was the glue that kept the family together especially during the holidays.
Doris is survived by her four beloved children: Cyndy Malavite (Mike) of East Sparta, OH; Ric Daughenbaugh (Marsha) of Aiken; Faye Weigle (Jack) of Irmo, SC; and Jean Meshey (Allen) of Aiken. She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her seven grandchildren: Andrea Clements (Nate), Brynley Farr (Chris), Margaret Crabtree (Ryan), Reese Weigle (Hannah), Mac Weigle, Michael Meshey (Lacey), and Emily Kaufmann (Alex)and granddaughter in law, Stacy Malavite, along with seventeen great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild on the way.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as three grandchildren: Matt Malavite, Merideth Meshey, and Nathaniel Meshey.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, 2:00 PM at Christ Way Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Christ Way Christian Church, 183 Old Wagener Rd., Aiken, SC 29803, SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare (letlovelive.org) or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
