It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Darlene Dorsey from this life on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Naomi Heights Nursing Home in Alexandria, Louisiana. Darlene was born on July 17, 1935, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Darlene was 89 years old.
Visitation for Darlene will be held Thursday, January 16, 2035, from 9:00-11:00 am at Gallagher Funeral Home, 3994 Monroe Highway, Ball, Louisiana with Father Anthony Dharmaraj officiating. Services will be at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services and be at Alexandria Memorial Gardens in Woodworth, Louisiana.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Zach Ward, Nicholas Warner, Cory Erskine, Russell Day, Marcus Connella, and Jeff Connella.
Darlene is preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Anne Aaron; granddaughter, Deborah Alise Aaron; father, Fred B. Connella; mother, Bessie Leona Connella; brother, Clarence "Bo" Connella; and sisters, Sandra Connella Lindstrom and Kinda Marie Connella.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Teresa Firmin; son, Larry Dorsey (Sheila); daughter, Pamela Guadagno-Ward; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Darlene worked at the V.A. Medical Center until retirement and continued to work for Partners in Literacy, helping people learn to read and write until her mid-70s.
The family requests donations of either flowers for a beautiful display to honor her memory or donations made in Darlene's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org, a charity that Darlene held close to her heart.
