PLAINVILLE – Doris Marie (Bourgeois) Dumont, 87, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Dumont.
Born on November 24, 1937 in Providence, RI, she was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Hebert) Bourgeois.
She is survived by her devoted children: Donald Dumont of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH; Robert Dumont of Rehoboth; Carol Roderick of Watertown, NY; Patricia Powers and her husband, David, of Plainville; Michael Dumont and his wife, Donna Hanson, of North Attleboro; and Brian Dumont and his wife, Ruth, of Manchester, CT. She was predeceased by her daughters, Elaine Barney and Cynthia Dumont. She was the cherished grandmother/great grandmother of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She was the beloved mother-in-law of Robert Barney of Attleboro, and the late Nancy Dumont.
Doris was the dear sister of Donald Bourgeois of North Attleboro, Ernest Bourgeois of Providence, RI., and the late Raymond Bourgeois and Rita Dumont.
Doris grew up in North Attleboro, she was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and North Attleboro High School. After marrying, she settled in Plainville, where she devoted her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. She was a woman of deep faith and a communicant of Saint Martha's Church in Plainville and Saint Mary's Church in Wrentham.
An avid bingo player, she also loved gardening, reading, word searches, taking long walks, and when she coached softball for the Plainville Athletic League. Above all, she was her children's, grandchildren's, and great grandchildren's biggest fan, never missing a game or event and always cheering them on with pride. Her greatest joy was time spent with her beloved family.
Her funeral, which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, beginning with visitation hours from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral service will be held immediately after, in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Attleboro Falls.
