Doris Elaine Eveland

Doris Elaine Eveland (Fry), beloved mother, devoted wife, sister, aunt, and unforgettable grandmother passed away on December 26, 2024 at the age of 85.
Doris is survived by her daughter Julie Trimble (Dave), son Jeff Clark (Hiroko), sister Carol Groves, sister Cheryl Schwahn (Monte), sister RaeAnn Garofalo (Roger), grandson Dylan Trimble, granddaughter Sydney Gay (John), and great grandson Jack Gay.
Doris was born on Nov 8th, 1939 to Lilian Fisher and Leonard Edgar. She grew up in North Spokane where she attended North Central High School. While achieving high marks on the Honor Roll, she actively participated and led the Yell team, plus swam on the synchronized swim team. What may have been the 1st spark that lit her lifelong love of travel, she also joined Spokane Silver Spurs Folk Dancing team.
With Silver Spurs, Doris waltzed, spun, sashayed, and do-si-do'd her way across the country. From the dusty roads of Montana and South Dakota all the way to the steps of our Nation's Capital, every performance was a pin on her map; every bow a promise to see more of America. Silver Spurs didn't just give her fancy footwork, it lit a fire for travel that never dimmed.
After hanging up her dance spurs and ballgowns, she settled down to raise a family and started a career as an insurance salesman for Safeco Insurance. Her years working, living, and raising her family in Spokane were sprinkled with memorable experiences always centered around fun family gatherings, a focus on God, and staying on her spiritual path.
It goes without staying, her early wanderlust for travel itineraries, chasing sunsets, and seeking that picture perfect postcard view, eventually led Doris to leave Spokane for a job in Bellevue, Washington as a travel agent where she could fulfill her dream of journeying to exotic destinations all over the world.
It was in Bellevue, where Doris met the "love of her life" and best friend, Jeff Eveland when she joined "Snow Joke" ski group for singles. With husband Jeff by her side, Doris spread her wings as they traveled abroad, walked along sun kissed shores, explored new towns, and shared wild tales to go around.
Age and retirement slowed this adventurous duo down encouraging them to relocate to Sequim, Wa where they restructured travel life to include boating around the San Juan Islands, entertaining grandkids, the art of crabbing, or just tinkering around the homestead tending to their lovely lavender garden.
Doris led a life deeply touched/molded by her love for family. She will always be remembered by her compassion for others, an adventurous spirit, and her contagious laugh. She will be missed by the many lives she touched and held dear.
May her next adventure be the grandest of all, twirling her way upon the great dance floor in the sky, leaving a legacy of joy and wonder for all to admire. For loved ones left behind: May her faith and love be a guiding light, even in the darkest night.
