Doris Evelyn Harris Free, age 92, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born April 27, 1933, in Saluda, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Harris and Rilla Nell Armistead Harris. She was married for 69 years to Willie Charles Free until his death in 2021. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Mary Free.

Doris was a seamstress for many years with J.P. Stevens and also used her talents to knit sweaters and afghans as well as outfits for dolls. She enjoyed bowling and loved to be on the lake. Her husband was her world and anytime they were together, they were always holding hands! She was a member of High Praises Church. Doris will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Brad Free; daughter, Terri Addis (Lamar); grandchildren, Scotty King (Lisa), Chris King (Heather), Chan Addis (Shannon), and Jason Addis (Amanda); 9 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 11:30 am until 12:15 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm in the Chapel with Pastor Chad Smith officiating. Burial will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
