Doris I. Gardner, age 94, of Glen Haven, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Lancaster Health Services. She was born on February 8, 1931, the daughter of William and Lillan (Wachuta) Beneker. Doris graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1948. On July 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Paul Campbell. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1962. To this marriage, five children were born: Nancy, Dan, Ken, Kevin and Jane. Doris was a homemaker and upon Paul’s passing, she moved to Prairie du Chien. On June 3, 1965, Doris was united in marriage to Neil Gardner at St. John’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Together they farmed the Gardner family farm in Glen Haven Township. Doris dearly loved being a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Glen Haven Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband, Neil; their children: Nancy (Bob) Bierman, Dan (Char), Ken (Deb), and Kevin (Natalie) Campbell, Jane (Brad) White; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; in-laws: Chuck (Rita) and Delores Gardner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her first husband, Paul, Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Roger (Alice) Beneker; a great-granddaughter, Marrisa Zach; in-laws: Monroe (Wilma) Gardner and Evie (Tom) Krogman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Sudhakar Devarapu officiating. Burial will be in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, donations in memory of Doris may be given to the Bloomington Library, WI Badger Camp, and West Grant EMS. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
