Doris Y. (Ziegler) Harkness, of Gillett, PA, cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at the age of 82, at Bradford Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation.
Born on April 23, 1943, in Sellersville, PA, Doris was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Hedrick) Ziegler. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Barry Ziegler and Robert Ziegler.
Doris was a woman of many talents and interests. She dedicated many years of her professional life working for Dr. Sullivan and also served her community as a devoted school bus driver. Her love for music was evident through her skillful play of the piano and organ, and she found joy in creating beautiful ceramics.
A faithful member of Gillett Baptist Church, Doris's love for her church community was profound. She sang in the church choir, sharing her voice and deepening her bonds with fellow congregants.
Doris is survived by her loving husband, Lee Harkness, her son Doug Harkness of Williamsport, PA, and her sisters, Barbara Mast of Oley, PA, and Sandra Godshall of Green Lane, PA. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
A memorial service to honor Doris's life will be held at a later date at Gillett Baptist Church. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris's name to Gillett Baptist Church, 33241 Route 14, Gillett, PA 16925.
