Doris Ann Head, 94, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. She was born June 26, 1930 to the late Herman and Emily (Kockritz) Elpers.
Doris graduated from Reitz High School in 1948. She enjoyed dancing and vacationing at Ormond Beach with her husband, Charles. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Vanderburgh County. Doris enjoyed quilting and made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, summer socials, walking many miles with her husband and family, and praying the Rosary. Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who treasured the time she spent with her family
Doris is survived by children, Karen (Wayne) Schimmell of Evansville, Pam Endress of Minneapolis, MN, Tony Head of Evansville, Mary Hedges (Scott Yezek) of Peoria, IL, Theresa Dukar of Peoria, IL, Tom "Hack" Head of Miami, FL, Joe (Lisa) Head of Mansura, LA, Amy (Pat) Graham of Phoenix, AZ, Benjamin (Kristin, MD) Head of Simsbury, CT, Camille (Grace) Paul of San Diego, CA; sister, Barbara Jean Wallace; sister-in-law, Barbara Jo Elpers; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles L. Head in 2019; sister, Alice Stephan; and brothers, Lawrence (Bunny) and John Elpers.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville where a Memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (County), 6202 W. St. Joseph Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Gene Schroeder officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery (County).
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church (County), 6202 W. St. Joseph Rd., Evansville, IN 47720 or the Evansville Rescue Mission, 500 East Walnut Street, Evansville, IN 47713.
