Doris Gaffney Johnson

Doris Gaffney Johnson, 92, passed away at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Orange City, Florida, on November 13, 2024.
Doris was beloved by her family and friends, and all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. The family is comforted knowing that she was a woman of strong faith, and that she is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Doris was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina on February 28, 1932, the daughter of Carl Max Gaffney and Carrie Lee Gaffney. On January 31, 1957, Doris married Sam Jay Johnson, and they were married for 57 years.
Doris is survived by her two children, Sammie Johnson Wiggins and Shaun Jay Johnson, her four grandchildren, Jon Dickerson, Justin Brooks Dickerson, Evan Johnson and Carrie Leigh Johnson Olsen, and her three great grandchildren, Sterling Dickerson, Cameron Dickerson, and Jesse Dickerson.
Doris, a homemaker, devoted her life to her family. She loved spending time with, and cooking and preparing wonderful meals for her adoring family.
The family expresses deep gratitude for the loving care given by Julie Bibby, of Halifax Health Hospice, as well as Doris' in-home caregivers, Diana Miranda and Migna Quinones.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on November 23, 2024 at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Garmon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
