Doris "Pauline" Kindy, 82, of Midland, Michigan, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Stratford Pines Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, with her family by her side. In the final weeks of her life, she was visited by many friends and family members who reminisced and prayed with her.
She was born in Accident, Maryland, on January 25, 1943, to the late Gorman & Elizabeth (Yoder) Beitzel. She married Lloyd Kindy on June 29th, 1963. In her younger years, she was employed by Michigan Sugar Company in Sanford and Breckenridge where she weighed in sugar beet trucks. The local farmers referred to her as "Blondie". She was a homemaker and a nanny to many young children and families. Later in life, she worked from home, keeping books and doing office work for the family business. She loved Jesus and was a member of the Midland Missionary Church. She will be remembered for her never-ending laughter and her great sense of humor. She enjoyed getting together with her sisters and spending time with her family and granddaughters whom she loved deeply.
Doris is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Lloyd Kindy; two sons, Richard (Ayako) Kindy of Midland, Scott (Jill) Kindy of Hillsdale, three granddaughters, Brooke (Chad) Sommers of Cement City, Briana (Josiah) Pratt of St. Joe, Indiana, Jade Kindy of Hillsdale; stepsister-in-law, Lucy Maust; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Anna Yoder of Accident, Maryland, Miriam (Mervin) King of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, Elnora (Donald) Groff of Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania, Ruth (Larry) Champ of Moyie Springs, Idaho, Joyce (Joseph) Miller of Pamplin, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Virginia (Stacy) Beitzel; sister and brother-in-law, Fannie (Alva) Maust, sister and brother-in-law, Alta (David) Kindy, brother-in-law, Daniel Yoder.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Midland Missionary Church, 479 S. 11 Mile Rd. Midland, Michigan with Pastors Mark Beers and David Kissinger officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5pm–7pm on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland, Michigan and on Saturday from 10am – 11am at the church. A graveside service will take place at Poseyville Cemetery immediately following the services at the church.
