Doris L. Kuehnast, 89 of Humboldt, passed away on Sunday evening, February 19, 2023 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.
She was born June 17, 1933 in Lehigh, Iowa, the daughter of Morris and Bertha (Kretlow) Kalahar. She grew up on an acreage outside Lehigh where she rode horses and ponies as a child. She graduated from Lehigh High School where she was class treasurer and active in basketball. Following graduation she attended Fort Dodge Business School and worked as an assistant for Smythe Insurance in the Carver Building in Fort Dodge. Doris was united in marriage to Marvin L. Kuehnast on September 11, 1954. The couple made their home on the farm near Humboldt where they raised their family. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt and active in church activities. She enjoyed her social groups and gatherings, her flowers, planting, watering and tending to their needs, baking and hummingbirds. However, she especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren and attending their activities. She and Marvin moved to Humboldt in 2009.
Doris is survived by her children Kathy (Kevin) Vance of Bridgman, Michigan, Cindy (Mike) Weston of Queen Creek, Arizona and Brent (Susan) Kuehnast of Humboldt, her grandchildren Andrew (Alesha) Gregg, Lisa (Ryan) Luedtke, Michael Gregg, Ryan (Kristan) Vance, Brandon (Shaina) Place and Grant & Ben Kuehnast and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, daughter Sandra Gregg, her parents and her brothers Donald Kalahar and her twin Harold Kalahar.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25th and visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24th both at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements.
