Doris Magee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rhodes Funeral Home - Washington Avenue on Dec. 9, 2025.
Doris W. Magee, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 1, 2025. Born April 1, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Doris was the fifth child of Wash and Pearl Evelyn Way. She was known for her vibrant spirit-full of sass, energy, and unexpected moments of tenderness-and she left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Raised in a household deeply rooted in faith, Doris grew up attending church faithfully alongside her family. Sundays were spent in worship from morning to evening-Sunday School, Morning Service, BTU, Prayer Service, and Evening Worship-shaping a foundation of devotion that followed her throughout life.

Doris attended Bogalusa High School, graduating in 1971. It was there she met and fell in love with the man who would become her lifelong partner, Charles Ray Magee. The two were married on July 10, 1971, beginning a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they raised two daughters, Tarsha and Cheryl Magee, who remained the center of her world and her greatest joy.

Doris was a devoted member of Abundant Life Church under the leadership of Pastor Leroy and First Lady Lisa Theard. Her faith was steady, and her presence in the church community was deeply valued.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wash and Pearl Evelyn Way; her loving husband, Charles Ray Magee; and her brothers, Arthur Way, Sr. and Lawrence Way.

Left to honor her memory are her daughters, Tarsha and Cheryl; and her five siblings: Wash Way, Jr. (Penny), Joyce Moore, Joseph Way, Sr. (Kathy), Carol Smith (Anthony), and Dianne Ricks (Joe). She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will continue to cherish her memory.

With her spirited personality, unwavering loyalty, and steadfast love for her family, Doris enriched the lives of many. Her generous heart, enduring faith, and the joy she brought to every gathering will forever be remembered.

Her legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know her. May we find comfort in the memories we share and in the lasting love she leaves behind.
