Doris Messner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lindsey Chapel on Aug. 18, 2025.
LOUDONVILLE: Doris Ann Messner, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at the age of 81.

Born April 9, 1944, in Akron, Ohio, to Carl and Betty (Reed) Gosnell, Doris was raised with a strong sense of the importance of family bonds, compassion, and dedication to caring for others. She graduated from the University of Akron in 1965 with a degree in nursing, beginning a lifelong commitment to helping people in need.

On May 18, 1969, Doris married the love of her life, John W. Messner. Together, they shared 55 years of marriage filled with laughter, devotion, and the joy of raising their family. Doris was preceded in death by John, her steadfast partner and best friend.

A devoted mother, Doris is survived by her children: John (Alisa) Messner, Jim (Jessica) Messner, Dan (Ashley) Messner, and Kate (Chris) Collins, as well as 10 cherished grandchildren who brought her endless joy, and her beloved dog Annie. Her home was always filled with warmth, kindness, and the smell of something delicious baking in the kitchen.

Doris had many passions-gardening, where she nurtured life and beauty in every season; reading, where she explored new worlds and ideas; and genealogy, where she found deep meaning in connecting the threads of her family's past. Her steadfast faith in God inspired her to serve in numerous capacities at her local church, embodying love in all she did. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely, the values she instilled in her children, and the memories shared by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be held at Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, 123 North Market St, Loudonville, OH 44842, on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 5-7 pm.
