Doris J. Pagel, 82, was called home on October 31, 2023 Dorie was born, on August 3, 1941, in Chicago, IL to Jack and Dorothy Sanders. She graduated from Menominee High School, Class of 1959. While working at American Can, Dorie met Paul Pagel. They were married on June 8, 1962, and moved to Mobile, AL. In 1964, they returned to Wisconsin and settled in Brookfield, where they raised two children. Dorie graduated from the UW- Milwaukee and a Masters degree from the UW-Stout. Dorie’s professional career included being a school psychologist and an RSN Director for CESA 7. Other employment included being a coordinator for the Volunteer Action Center in Waukesha. In this position, she organized major fundraisers for Special Olympics. Also, she was a real estate agent in the Brookfield area. Dorie enjoyed time with the family in Door County at the cottage, gardening, traveling, and reading. She would light up when she saw children and dogs.
Dorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, brother-in-law David Pagel, sister-in-law Marie Scheinder Harris Cooper, nephew David Schneider, and good friends Kenneth Mathys and Carl Manns. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn (Michael) Noonan, children Mark (Laurie Princotto) Pagel, and Anne (Robert) Atnip, grandchildren, Nathan Pagel, Andrew, and Lauren Atnip, nieces, Cindy (Alphonso) Lanzetta, Teresa Schneider, Jill (Charles Manske) Meyer, Kelly (Eric) Eisch, and Patricia (Craig) Velleux, nephews Chris (Lorelei) Schneider and Scott Gregg.
The family will greatly appreciate donations to the Door County Humane Society. The Celebration of Dorie’s life will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at First United Church of Christ, 509 S. Webster Ave, Green Bay at 11 AM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jill Meyer. The church is collecting hats, mittens, and jackets. A special box will be available for donations.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
