Doris Elaine (Herald) Rabenstein, born November 13, 1951, in Clay County, KY, went to be with her creator on September 23, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with stage four cancer.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family asked that in Leui of flowers, donations be made to the Colquitt Regional Hospice, 415 Rowland Dr./ P.O. Box 3548 Moultrie, GA 31776-3548

She was preceded in death by her husband John (Jack) Rabenstein of Booneville, KY, her parents Virgil and Edna (Noble) Herald of Booneville KY, and her sister Joyce Ann Mayes of Lawrenceburg, IN.

She is survived by one sister, Lois Jean Clark (Larry) of Hamilton, OH, two brothers, Larry Bruce Herald of Punta Gorda, FL and Jimmie Wayne Herald (Darlene) of Booneville, KY.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marsha Mayes Burton (Chuck) of Moultrie, GA and Jennifer Perkins Case (Steve) of Cramerton, NC, three grandchildren, Katherine Burton of Moultrie, GA, Dalton Thomas of Cramerton, NC, and Alex Case (Amy) of Cramerton, NC and two great grandchildren, Avery Case and Adler Case, both of Cramerton, NC.

Knowing Doris, you would certainly recognize her infectious smile, her kind and adventurous spirit and her genuine love of family and friends. She was a talented artist, wood worker and crafter who used her talents to make furniture and crafting supplies for others in her and her late husband’s wood working shop. Whether selling wares at a flea market, fishing, or, at times, searching for lost treasure with her metal detector, she enjoyed most just being outdoors and meeting people. An avid gardener, she always had beautiful plants and flowers to enjoy in and around her home. She was a great listener who always showed interest in hearing the experiences of the people she met and sharing her own stories with them. Her greatest joy was found in being around her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.
