Doris L. Reiman

NEW PALESTINE – Doris L. (Sowman) Reiman, age 97, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born in Murphysboro, Illinois on August 23, 1928, to Thelma Mae (Crombar) Heisner and Harold G. Sowman. She graduated from Murphysboro Township High School in 1945. She married Ralph E. Reiman on November 27, 1947, in Bloomington, Indiana.

She worked for Eli Lilly & Company as a Medical Secretary from 1949-1955. She was a secretary for Lawrence Elementary School from 1969-1978. Mrs. Reiman was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine. She was a past member of Lawrence United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with family and friends, locally and in Florida.

She is survived by her sons, Jim (Mary) Reiman of New Palestine, and David Reiman of Huron, Ohio; daughter Linda Cox of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Christine Danley, and 10 other grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and brother James (Jeanette) Sowman of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years Ralph Reiman; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Susan Reiman; grandson, Daniel Reiman; brothers, Tom and Hal Sowman; and cousin, Imogene Swetland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support the Lutheran hospital in Antsirabe, Madagascar by making checks out to Zion Lutheran Church with "Madagascar" in the memo line. Checks may be mailed to Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 W. 300 South, New Palestine, Indiana 46163, or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
