Doris L. Scharton, age 68, of Sac City, Iowa died June 27, 2024 at Park View Rehabilitation in Sac City.
Memorial Services will take place Monday July 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. Burial will take place Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia, Iowa. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Doris Lurene Mahler was born December 7, 1955 to Elmer and Waldina (Buckendahl) Mahler in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was baptized as an infant at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Aurelia, IA. In 1970, Doris confirmed her faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa. She attended school in Sac City, graduating in 1974. Most recently, Doris was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Storm Lake.
On April 17, 1982, Doris was united in marriage to Mark Randall Scharton at St. Peter's English Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Elizabeth, Samantha, and Amber. The couple later divorced.
Doris loved to crochet and put together puzzles. During the warm months, you could find her tending to her garden. She enjoyed bowling with her friends. Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish the memory of Doris include her children: Elizabeth Scharton of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Samantha Scharton of Omaha, Nebraska; Amber (Peter) Volanakis of Chicago, Illinois; brothers: Robert (Beverly) Mahler of Cherokee, Iowa; Larry Mahler of Sac City, Iowa; LeRoy Mahler of Sac City, Iowa; Herbert (Terri) Mahler of Sac City, Iowa; sister: Joann (Jerry) Pitts of Fontanelle, Iowa; grandchildren: Calvin Volanakis; Peter Volanakis; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Waldina Mahler, brother, Alden "Spike" Mahler, sister-in-law Marilyn (Larry) Mahler, and niece, Kelly Mahler.
