Doris Singleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bosse Funeral Home, Inc. - Louisville on Jan. 21, 2026.
Doris Mae Singleton (née Klefot), lovingly known as Mom, Mamaw, and Grandma, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the remarkable age of 98. Born on April 18, 1927, in Louisville, she lived nearly a century with unwavering strength, a sharp wit, and a heart full of love.

Doris was a devout Catholic whose faith was the cornerstone of her life. She said the rosary daily and was a steadfast participant in St Albert the Great's Prayer Chain ministry. Her faith not only grounded her, but shaped her into a woman of deep conviction and compassion-someone impossible not to love.

She built an extraordinary legacy rooted in family. Preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, Doris was the proud mother of seven children: Sheryl; Steve (Kelly); Tom (Wanda); John (Mary); as well as Bob (Alison), Carol and infant son, Joseph: three who preceded her in death. The family tree flourished into a virtual forest that includes 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Each generation carries forward the strength and spirit she so generously shared.

Known for her fierce loyalty and quick wit, Doris could hold her own in any conversation or game. Cards were a particular favorite especially Pinocle and Shanghai Rummy. Even at nearly 99 years old, she remained sharp as the proverbial tack and ALWAYS played to win! Diamond Art became her favorite hobby, which she loved gifting. She had an uncanny ability to remember ALL family members and friends on birthdays and other special occasions, and loved picking out and sending applicable cards.

She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel both domestically (especially Las Vegas) and internationally. A good margarita or bourbon slush never went unappreciated. She cherished time spent with family as well as lifelong friends who joined her on trips and around card tables. Her love for shoes and bargains added flair to her already vibrant personality.

Doris dedicated over four decades of service as a volunteer with organizations including American Red Cross, Opportunities for Life, St. Anthony Hospital and Baptist East Hospital. Her commitment to helping others reflected the same nurturing care she gave to her family.

Her final words in the hospital captured the wonder of her life: "Isn't that something?" Yes-it truly is. Doris was truly special to everyone, but had the amazing ability to make each person she touched feel personally special.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Saturday, January 24, at

St. Albert The Great Catholic Community, 1395 Girard Drive, with interment to immediately follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Germantown. Visitation will be held at the Church from 10:30am until the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Albert SVDP Conference which funds community assistance in ministry with other local churches.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
