Rock Hill – Mrs. Doris Joan Siverly Shonk, 95, passed away September 15, 2024 at the Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Shonk was born in Marshall, IL, the daughter of the late Louis and Nellie Kannmacher Siverly. After graduating high school, she married Donald R Shonk. They made their home in northern Illinois. Joan worked as a pharmacy assistant and later as a bookkeeper and office manager for forty-four years. After retiring, they relocated to Rock Hill in 1991 to be closer to their family. Mrs. Shonk was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in 1961 and was active in The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour Rock Hill.
Service for Mrs. Shonk will be private and held at a later date to be announced.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shonk is survived by her daughter, Cathleen Anne Olson (Rick) of Sharon, SC; her son, Jeffrey Alan Shonk (Deborah) of Mt. Airey, MD; her seven grandchildren; her sisters, Arlene Bonnell (Roger) of Palm Desert, CA and Lee Bowers (Donald) of Ranson, WV; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Siverly (Terry) of Vail, CO.
Memorials for Mrs. Shonk may be made to The Episcopal Church of Saviour, 144 Caldwell Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
