It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Doris "Susie" Joann Draper, age 69, on June 21, 2025. Doris was born on December 27, 1955, in Oceanside, California, and later made her home in Gallatin, Tennessee. A devoted nurse, “Susie” spent her career in healthcare, exemplifying compassion and dedication in her work.
“Susie” was a passionate fan of NASCAR and looked forward to cheering on her beloved Tennessee Volunteers and all SEC teams. She cherished her time at the beach, relishing the warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves. Above all, “Susie” treasured her family and was known for her generosity and kindness, always available to lend an ear or a helping hand. Her affection for her nieces and nephews was deep and unwavering, and she played an active role in their lives.
"Susie" was preceded in death by her father, Dorris Draper.
"Susie" is survived by her mother, Carolyn Draper; sister, Suzan Buchanan; nephew, Bryan Buchanan; niece Brittani Edwards (Nick), great nephew, James Buchanan; great niece, Annabelle Edwards.
A memorial gathering will be held for family and friends on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 3:45 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home. A private celebration of life service will follow at 4:00 PM to honor "Susie's" life for family and close friends.
In remembrance of “Susie”, contributions may be made to Humane Society of Sumner County, 16 Volunteer Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075 or Bush’s Chapel Cemetery, 1995 Old Gallatin Rd, Portland, TN 37148. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
