Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Doris Kearns Wilkins, age 84 of Wilkins O’Neal Road passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Graveside Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in the Faith Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Four Oaks. Rev. Billy Nowell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 1:45PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in the sanctuary of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Four Oaks prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Wilkins was born on November 7, 1940, in Welcome, NC (Davidson County) to the late William Henry and Ruth Estelle Kearns. She preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Wilkins, Jr., Sister Ruth Kearns, Brothers, Jack Kearns, and Paul Kearns.
Mrs. Wilkins retired from Grifols after 27 years. She maintained and purchased tools for the Maintenance Tool Stockroom. She loved her family and loved working in her flowers. She was a wonderful cook and you never left her home hungry. She loved the guys that she worked with and many of them referred to her as “Mama Doris” and nicknamed her as “The Hammer” for keeping everything in order. She was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church of Four Oaks.
Surviving includes her daughter, Cheri Wilkins Scott; Son, John Patrick Wilkins, III; Grandchildren, Katina Caro and finance’ Keith Conway of Erwin, Kellie Scott Soddy and husband, Dustin Soddy of Liberty; Great-Grandchildren, Brynlee Peeples and Wyatt Soddy; godchild, Melody Kay Snow; Sister-in-laws, Martha Jean Wilkins of Four Oaks, Dorothy Wood of Pine Level; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers: however, memorials may be made to Cardinal Hospice Memorial fund, 3884 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546 or to the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home, PO Box 249, Middlesex, NC 27557.
Special thanks her Cardinal Care Team, Julie Smith, Eboney Pettaway, Amber Litka, Morgan Young, Miqueila Ferrel, Andy Montenegro and Donna Grady, as well her sister-in-law, Martha Wilkins for taking such good care of her for the last 6 months.
