Dorkin Niel McBride

The family of the late Dorkin McBride invites you to join them in celebrating the life of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather at the Port Carling Legion on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. No planned speeches - just the sharing of memories with family and friends.
Dorkin passed away in his 88th year at Andy's House in Port Carling on Monday,
December 12th, 2022.
Dorkin was pre-deceased by his first wife Ruth Sawyer, his parents Roy and Laura
(Coote) McBride, and his older sister Joyce Adamson.
Leaving to grieve are his loving wife of 47 years Lynn, his beloved daughters Sandra
(Daryl) and Cindy (Mike), as well as his grandchildren Charmody (Scott), Jasmine,
Adam, Darren and his great grandchildren Grant and Neve as well as his younger brother
Garry and uncle Basil Coote.
Dorkin spent the majority of his working career as a gifted carpenter and was always
proud to point out the various cottages that he had help build. He was happiest when he
was able to make something from scratch or renovate or repair - all with a smile on his
face and a hearty laugh.
He was briefly a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bracebridge, a proud member of the
Port Carling Lions Club, serving one term as Zone Chairman, and a long time member of
the Royal Canadian Legion.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to all who have been
involved with his care especially over the past couple of months. Special thanks to the
wonderful staff and volunteers of Andy's House in Port Carling who offered their care
and compassion to both Dorkin and his family during his last week.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dorkin's life will take place next spring.
In lieu of flowers and cards, donations made to Hospice Muskoka - Andys' House would
be greatly appreciated and can be arranged through Reynolds Funeral Home.
