Hugh James McBride was born on November 8, 1935, in Graham, Texas, and passed from this life on September 9, 2025.

A lifelong sports fan, Hugh grew up cheering for the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, and even as life took him north, he proudly added the Oklahoma Sooners to his list of favorite teams during football season.

From a young age, Hugh had a talent for tinkering and fixing things, a skill that led to a 40-year career at Electrolux as a service manager. Known for his sharp mind and steady hands, he was respected by both peers and employees alike. There wasn't an appliance he couldn't diagnose or repair, and he approached each task with integrity, precision, and a legendary sense of humor. His one-liners were well known and often remembered.

Hugh had a generous and kind heart, always ready to lend a hand to neighbors or friends in need. He found peace and joy near the water, whether fishing quietly off a friend's boat or from a tube in the water. He remained an avid fisherman throughout his life, going as often as he could.

Being outdoors brought Hugh great happiness. When he wasn't casting a line, he could be found in his yard, meticulously tending to the lawn and plants. He took just as much pride in maintaining his home, always keeping it tidy and well cared for. For Hugh, both his work and his surroundings were reflections of his character-thoughtful, hardworking, and full of integrity.

Family meant the world to Hugh. He was deeply committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment and treasured time spent at family gatherings. A fierce domino player, he was often found at the table mid-game, ready with a quick quip and a sharp move. You always knew company was coming when the dominoes came out.

Hugh is survived by his daughter, Paula Fugate, and her husband Bill; his son, Daryl McBride, and his wife Rachel; and his grandchildren, Joe Fugate and Rachel Gold. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kylah, Leah, Kye, Kassiyah, Brooklyn, and Lucas.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary McBride; grandchildren Jason and Chance McBride; his sister, Lesley June Andrews; brothers, Bob and Virgil McBride; his parents, Hosea McBride and Salia Lee McBride (Samson); and his beloved wife, Barbara McBride (Cowan).

Hugh's warmth, wit, and unwavering dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
