Edward Eugene Oliver was born on December 1, 1946, in Heavener, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on September 5, 2025. He lived a life marked by service, resilience, and deep love for his family.
Edward proudly served as a Crew Chief on the C-130 during the Vietnam War, later retiring from the United States Air Force as a proud veteran after 20 years of honorable service. He graduated high school in 1965 from Casa Grande High School in Arizona with his sights set on joining the Air Force-his father had told him they serve better food than the Army. His early life was spent moving from state to state with his family, following the crops as his father farmed cotton and peanuts.
After his military career, he continued to serve his country in a different way by working for Lockheed Martin for 25 years, a position that eventually brought him back to Oklahoma in 2008.
He had a passion for fishing and travel, often planning trips that combined both. One of his proudest memories was riding aboard the Hercules, the historic steam-powered tugboat now preserved at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. He especially cherished a trip with his wife, Jaquelyn, whom he married September 20, 2023, exploring the country coast to coast. They'd originally planned to visit Yellowstone and made it as far as Niagara Falls.
A lifelong tinkerer, Edward found joy in working with his hands, whether it was maintaining his motorcycle (which he loved to ride), or fixing up old cars. These projects were more than just hobbies; they were sources of pride and joy. Often, you could find him in his garage, tools in hand, singing along to his favorite artist, Willie Nelson.
Edward was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. His strength and determination left a lasting impression on those around him. In 2000, he was involved in a serious car accident where he nearly lost his life three separate times. Given a grim prognosis and told he'd never walk again, Edward defied all odds. With unshakable determination, he made a full recovery, inspiring everyone who witnessed his journey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jaquelyn; children: Robert Oliver and wife Colletia, Barbara Oliver, Richard Oliver and wife Amanda, Joey Terry and wife Amy, Jacie Kirby and husband Don, and Chase Terry and wife Raelyn; and sister, Carolyn Sellers. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his beloved Corgi, Sassy Pants, and his powder puff Chinese Crested, Sammie.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and E.E. "Bud" Oliver; his sisters, Anita Christian and Margaret Tolley; his great-grandson, Jayden Thomas Oliver; and his former wife, Barbara Ivers.
