Dorothy Jane Bell, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went to be with The Lord on May 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on September 17, 1937, in Houston, Texas, Dorothy led a life marked by dedication to her family and unwavering faith as a faithful servant to The Lord.
As a cherished homemaker, Dorothy created a warm and nurturing environment for her family. She took immense joy in sharing her love of life with those around her, particularly through her passion for playing 42 Dominoes. These moments were often spent with friends at the Cleveland Senior Center, where she found camaraderie and connection, enriching her vibrant personality.
Dorothy's educational journey culminated in high school, equipping her with the tools to navigate life with grace. Her proudest accomplishments included her steadfast commitment as a member of the Cleveland Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith played a central role in her life.
She is survived by her loving children, Sheryl B. Hales and her husband Ronald, and Darrell Bell and his wife Angela. Dorothy also leaves behind her adored sisters, Aline Kidwell and Oletta Warren, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends who will remember her warm spirit and generous heart.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband William E. Bell, as well as her parents, Clyde and Birdie Lee Canion, her daughter Debbie Vaughn, and her brothers Wilber Canion and L.C. Canion. Her legacy of love and devotion will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S. Washington, Cleveland, Texas, on May 7, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM. The family invites all who knew Dorothy to join in remembering her wonderful life and the joy she brought to others.
