Dorothy Boberg Obituary

Dorothy L. Boberg, 86, of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025. She was born on April 14, 1939, in Painesville, Ohio. Dorothy grew up in Ohio with her siblings Ardith Moore, Carl Engel, and Rhonda Schroeder, in a close-knit family whose love and values shaped the trajectory of her life.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert M. Boberg. Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Wesley S. Boberg and Eric A. Boberg and his wife, Shirley M. Boberg. She was the cherished grandmother of Cain and Aleta Boberg, children of Wesley, and Carl and Elisabeth Boberg, children of Eric and Shirley.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Robert, in 1964 in Walled Lake, Michigan. In the summer of 1966, they moved to Rhode Island, where they raised their family. After Robert's retirement, the couple moved west in 1998, living in Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada. Dorothy returned to Rhode Island in 2022 to be closer to family.

Dorothy devoted her professional life to caring for children. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and later continued her vocation as a childcare provider, touching the lives of many families with her kindness and dedication.

Faith was an important part of Dorothy's life. She and Robert raised their children at Shawmut Baptist Church in Warwick. She also found joy in the Presbyterian Church after Robert's retirement, but wherever she was, always loved singing in church choirs. When she returned to Rhode Island in 2022, Dorothy rejoined the Baptist church, reconnecting with the tradition that had shaped her family's spiritual life. Even in later years, she remained active and engaged, keeping close contact with family and friends through Facebook, email, and phone calls.

She also had a lifelong love of Shelties. After raising her children, Dorothy always had one-or more-beautiful Shelties by her side, delighting in sharing stories about her dogs and the breeders' latest litters. Along with her love of family and pets, she found joy in travel, cherishing opportunities to see new places and take in the beauty and culture of the world around her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Warwick Central Baptist Church. Private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Sheltie Rescue Association at https://www.nationalsheltierescueassociation.org/donate.html
